Materials Needed:

  • Two (2) strips of fabric 2.5 inches by 8.5 inches
  • Thread
  • Bobbin
  • Iron
  • Ironing board
  • Sewing Machine
  • Universal Sewing Needle

Step 1: With right sides together, pin or clip the front and back of your bookmark.

Step 2: Line up your fabric with the right side of the presser foot and remember to back-stitch at the first and last stitches. Sew the two pieces together on three sides, using pivot corners, leaving the smaller top end open.

Step 3: Clip all four corners to have less fabric bulk at the corners when you turn it inside out.

Step 4: Turn the bookmark right side out and use a blunt object to help push the corners out

Step 5: Tuck the open ends inside the bookmark so it creates a squared edge on the folds.

Step 6: Press the seams, don’t iron them, to have all of the seams laying flat.

Step 7: With a ⅛ seam allowance top-stitch around all four sides of your bookmark, back-stitching at the beginning and the end and using pivot corners to keep your thread one continuous line.

TIP: start in the middle of one of the long edges so that you’re not trying to start on a bulky corner.
